/sʌn.driːz/: various items not important enough to be mentioned individually.

What is this?

Sundries is a blog about life, culture, people, things, and oddities. The word refers to various items not important enough to be mentioned individually, which is exactly what these entries are.

I'm blessed with a strong memory and attention to detail. Unfortunately, all I seem to do with that is keep track of the most mindless, pointless, and obscure topics and incidents that nobody else notices or cares about. Writing it down is one of the only ways I can stay sane, and it's fun, too. Let other people blog about news and politics; I'll blog about annoying smoke detectors and Dr Pepper t-shirts.

Years ago, I used to blog like this regularly, and several people have asked me to bring it back. So, that's what I did.

What happened to "Eating Shit"?

You may remember this blog by its old name, Eating Shit. This is all the same work, just with a new look. While I loved the old name, as you may have expected, it wasn't easy to look up or mention aloud without thorough explanation. I found that friends who genuinely wanted to read my stuff were put off by having to search the blog's name, and I figured I would rather have people find the writing and read the blog comfortably than keep the name. Maybe I'll use Eating Shit for something else in the future.

What did the old blog name mean? The phrase "eating shit" is Miami slang. It's taken from the Cuban Spanish phrase, come mierda (literally, eat shit). To eat shit means to do nothing or to waste time, which is what friends told me I was doing when I complained about all of these things.

Okay, but what happened to Nonsense Report?

Nonsense Report will always be my #1 baby, but as I grew up, it was time to move on. There's a lot of fun humor to be mined when you're a kid complaining about school and work. . . but that same humor doesn't really translate when you're an adult.

Not to worry, though. I've archived all of Nonsense Report on to one, clean site! Check it out:

Can I contact you or donate?

I mean, sure. You'd be the first!

hello @ sundries dot fun

or Venmo @americanexpress (yes, really)

Why doesn't your blog have pictures, interviews, better examples, in-depth research, fact-checking, etc.?

Don't think about it too much.
